Amanda completed her Bachelor of Science degree at Murdoch University where she majored in both Marine and Biological Science. She then went on to complete her Masters in Marine Biological Science at the University of Western Australia and will complete her Master’s in Business Administration this year. In 2019, Amanda was awarded a South African Shark Conservancy Women in Shark Science Scholarship where she spent one month in South Africa studying endemic sharks and promoting women in STEM. With a passion for the environment and conservation, Amanda created an initiative known as Fin Free Soup. Her unique Fin Free logo displayed in a restaurant’s front window indicates to consumers that the restaurant does not serve shark fin soup and, in turn, does not support the shark fin trade. Amanda has since written and hosted a documentary based on her initiative which aired on Discovery Channel’s Shark Week.
